Homeschool students @ Gpa-NB
Grace Preparatory Academy of NB welcomes homeschool diploma students that wish to take one or more classes with our GPA-NB diploma students. Homeschool diploma students are also invited to participate in our graduation ceremony at the end of the school year.
Please read the GPA-NB school handbook for more detailed information. A link to the school handbook can be found on the Academic Corner main landing page.
Transcripts???
As a home school diploma student in Texas, it is the responsibility of the homeschool parent to provide the official high school transcript when applying to colleges and universities. In Texas, the parent is the certifying authority of their homeschool student’s academic record. It is important for homeschool parents to download and save copies of GPA-NB report cards to complete their student’s homeschool high school transcript. If necessary, homeschool diploma students can request their GPA-NB transcript from the Academic Coordinator at the email address: ac@gpa-nb.org.
what does the state of Texas say about homeschool?
Following are the requirements by Texas law to legally homeschool your child:
The instruction must be bona fide (i.e. not a sham);
The curriculum must be in visual form (e.g. books, workbooks, video monitor);
The curriculum must include the basic subjects of reading, spelling, grammar, mathematics, and good citizenship.
Your child may be taught in another family’s home, may use a private tutor for instruction, may take classes online, may take classes at a private school like GPA-NB, or may take a combination of all of the ways listed in order to receive the best homeschool education possible.
NOTE: The subjects included (above) in the homeschool curriculum are broad and vague. At Grace Preparatory Academy of NB, we believe that all students in private, public, or homeschool working on a Texas high school diploma should be striving to achieve at least the minimum standards for the Texas Foundation High School Diploma Program as set forth by the TEA. This minimum standard is the coursework that colleges and universities are looking for on transcripts and applications.
